💭 My Thoughts
❤️What I Loved
This book was an absolute 5-star read for me.
Karin Slaughter has a way of writing stories that feel raw, emotional, and painfully real. The tension starts early and never truly lets up. I was completely hooked from the beginning and found myself constantly needing “just one more chapter.”
What stood out most for me was the emotional depth of the characters—especially Emmy and Jude. Their pain, resilience, and the complicated relationships surrounding them made this feel like so much more than just a thriller. It was a story about survival, trauma, and what people do when pushed to their limits.
The twists were sharp, but what hit hardest was the emotional weight behind them. Some moments genuinely left me speechless.
💔What Didn’t Work for Me
Honestly? Very little.
This is a heavy book emotionally, so it’s not a light or easy read, but that actually worked in its favor. The darkness of the story made every revelation hit harder and made the ending feel even more powerful.

The narration pulled me deeper into the story and made the emotional moments hit harder. You could feel the fear, the grief, and the tension in every scene. It added another layer of intensity that made it impossible to stop listening.
This is definitely one I’d recommend experiencing on audio.
